ABOUT US

 THE LEGACY OF OUR SCHOOL

Govt U P School Kadambar started its function in the year1910 with 45 children and two teachers.Initially it was confined only in kannada medium. This saraswathi temple was founded under the unique leadership of one naranappa a leading educationist and sociocultural leader at that time in kadambar village.

Now the school is in Meenja Panchayath in the newly constituted Manjeshwar Taluk. Our school is nearly two kilometre eastward from the Hosangady town.In 1980 this school was upgraded as a UP School.Malayalam medium had started only in 1986.Now we have not less than 500 children in both mediums. In curricular and co curricular activities this institution is very high in Manjeshwar sub district. This fact is attested by Mr Nandikeshan sir, the young and enthusiastic AEO of manjeshwar sub district while inaugurating the sub district level Saksharam programme in our school.Apart from this we have a better computer education facility too.PTA,MPTA and SMC are functioning very actively. Our PTA with the co-operation of one Ramachandra Rao,a former student of this school and the close relative of Naranappa the founder of the school had erected a super fine building as part of its centinary celebration namely centinary memorial building along with the aid of fund availed by the then Manjeshwar MLA Sri CH kunhambu in year 2010.It is a remarkable advantage of our school. A transparent noon feeding system is going on here under the supervision of school HM in charge Sri Bhaskara Shettigar and the senior most kannada teacher Sri vijaya kumar. As the lone bilingual school in meenja panchayath, no difference of opinion among teachers about to conduct either curricular or co curricular activities here. This is is an exemplorary fact about this school. But the dearth of a play ground for students is an unsolved issue still.

THE LEGENDS ON KADAMBAR

In accordance with certain tribal chieftons in this area, the place name KADAMBAR is derived from the term KATTIPPARA which means the land of Bisons or rocky areas of Bisons. This way Kattippara may gradually turned to Kadambar. This may be true, because the western side of this place is still an abundant area of laterite stone.
In another interesting local version the entire Manjeshwar area including Kadambar was ruled by a tribal forest lord named KADAMBAN.According to them, the place where Kadamban ruled became known as Kadambar;or the rocky area which Kadamban used to take rest  after his royal hunting was known as Kadambanpaara. This kadamban paara may later be known as Kadampara. But no historical record are available to support these theories. That is why these are all the strong legends in connection with the place name Kadambar.

DIVERSITY IN LANGUAGE

The leading language in this area is the ancient Dravidian Class of language Tulu. All the original inhabitants especially the tribes Koragas and even Muslims are well verse in this language. The second large spoken language here is Kannada.Beside these two languages,Malayalam is widely using.North Malabar particularly Kasaragod district is the confluence of seven languages such as Kannada,Tulu,Malayalam,Konkini,Marathi,Hindi and Arabic. All these languages are using in accordance with their convenience.,is an astonishing factor comparing that of other districts in our state. The dialect of Malayalam in manjeshwar area including Kadambar is entirely different from that of southern parts of the district..Barring its minor difficulties to understand initially,it is acceptable for both children and teachers.
